A police officer could be in trouble for smashing in a Honda while heading to an emergency call

A cop car that flew through an intersection without turning on its emergency lights or sirens t-boned a courier driver.

The 26-year-old cop was ‘on his way to work’ in Mount Pritchard, in Sydney’s south-west, when his BMW Highway Patrol car collided with another vehicle around 3 p.m. on Thursday.

A nearby home security camera captured footage of the courier driver’s silver Honda Jazz driving down the street towards a four-way intersection.

The patrol car speeds through the stop sign from the side street, with no lights or sirens activated.

The two vehicles collide with a loud bang, and the Honda Jazz’s rear driver’s side crumples in.

The hatchback then spins out of control, slamming into a curb and coming to a halt.

The cop car abruptly brakes on impact, and the emergency lights are turned on only as the vehicle comes to a stop.

Fortunately, the courier was unharmed despite barely avoiding the full force of the collision.

The officer was taken to Liverpool Hospital with a sore arm but was later released.

‘We were just inside out the back there with a mate having a bit of lunch when we heard this bang,’ a neighbor told 9News.

Fairfield Command has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
