Rebecca Kiessling, a mother who lost her two sons to fentanyl poisoning, has criticized Joe Biden for laughing off the possibility that his policies might have contributed to their deaths. In a video message, Kiessling expressed her outrage towards the President’s comments, stating, “How dare you?”
Caleb and Kyler, Kiessling’s sons, passed away in 2020 after ingesting fentanyl-laced painkillers. Kiessling testified before Congress earlier this week about the escalating fentanyl crisis, with Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene suggesting during the hearing that the boys would still be alive if the government had secured the border.
During a speech at the House Democratic Caucus Issues Conference, Biden used Kiessling’s story to mock Greene, saying, “The interesting thing is that fentanyl [the boys] took came during the last administration, haha.”
Kiessling responded to Biden’s remarks in her video, expressing her fury at his insensitivity towards her loss.
Kiessling pointed out the rise in fentanyl deaths across the country since Biden took office, saying, “What about the 22% increase in fentanyl deaths since you became president?
That represents tens of thousands of US citizens who died under your watch.” She also criticized Biden for failing to express serious concern for the lives lost and urged him to take accountability for his actions.
