Mr. MATSUNO Hirokazu, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, received a courtesy call from H. E. Mr. Othman Jerandi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad of the Republic of Tunisia, who is visiting Japan, on June 3 at 10:28 AM for roughly 25 minutes. The following is a summary:

Minister Jerandi’s visit to Japan was warmly welcomed by Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno, who indicated that Japan aims to enhance collaboration with Tunisia in advance of TICAD 8, which Tunisia will host in August.

Minister Jerandi responded by expressing his desire to collaborate closely with Japan to ensure the success of TICAD8.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno also emphasized that Japan believes it is critical that Tunisia’s present political reforms be executed with broad public support and procedural transparency, and that Japan intends to continue to help Tunisia’s economic and financial reform initiatives. Minister Jerandi responded by thanking Japan for its long-standing assistance for Tunisia.

Furthermore, both parties discussed the situation in Ukraine and the reaction to North Korea, including nuclear, missile, and abduction crises, and stated that they would continue to work together on these topics.
