On Tuesday, July 12, 2022, Mr. Alvin Botes, Deputy Minister of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, will host Ms. Vicky Ford, UK Minister for Africa, for bilateral consultations.

The meeting’s goal is to assess the status of the pledges made during the South Africa-United Kingdom Bilateral Forum held in May 2021 between Minister Naledi Pandor and Rt. Hon. Dominic Raab, a former foreign secretary.

The Bilateral Forum, which meets every two years and is headed by the Foreign Minister, oversees relations between South Africa and the UK on a bilateral basis.

In May 2021 in the United Kingdom, the G7 Foreign Ministers Meeting was co-located with the 12th session of the Bilateral Forum.

The Bilateral Consultations are anticipated to result in a renewed commitment to fostering ties between South Africa and the United Kingdom, with a focus on putting existing agreements into effect and concluding open Memorandums of Understanding and Agreements.
