Stevie Rider, a mother working at Next warehouse, has been experiencing severe back pain for over a year after moving a box of clothes just a few inches.
Despite undergoing ultrasound and MRI scans, Stevie still does not know the reason behind her debilitating pain.
She has been in and out of the hospital since and has not been able to spend quality time with her seven-year-old daughter, who she cannot carry or play with due to her condition.
Stevie’s Painful Ordeal:
Stevie’s pain began after she moved a box of clothes in an awkward manner while working at Next warehouse in April 2022.
She began feeling pain in her back, which persisted even after undergoing scans.
The pain has made it difficult for Stevie to run errands or even leave the house, forcing her to call on her neighbours for help when her daughter falls over.
Stevie’s Medical History:
Despite undergoing an ultrasound and MRI scan, doctors have not been able to identify the root cause of her pain.
The scans revealed that she has a lipoma, also known as a benign tumor, in her lower back, which is usually harmless and does not require treatment.
However, doctors recommended an MRI before proceeding to cut out the lump, as it was close to her spine.
Stevie’s Struggle to Cope:
Stevie’s back pain has made it difficult for her to carry or pick up her daughter, making her feel guilty for not being able to spend quality time with her.
She has been on long-term sick leave since October 2022 and has not been able to return to work, despite still being employed at the company where she has worked for 13 years.
Even the simplest tasks, such as going to the shop or picking up her foot, require significant effort and cause her immense pain.
Hope for Private Treatment:
Stevie’s sister has set up a GoFundMe page to raise £10,000 for private treatment, which covers the consultation, operation, and aftercare.
Despite her pain becoming normal over time, Stevie has not given up hope of finding a cure and is overwhelmed by the support she has received.
