Morning program host dies live

On Monday, a longstanding British radio personality died of a suspected heart attack while broadcasting his regular program, according to his radio station.

Tim Gough, 55, passed away early Monday morning while his show “Tim Gough at Breakfast” was airing live, according to a press release from GenX Radio. Gough presented the program from his home in Suffolk, his birthplace in eastern England.

Staff members at GenX Radio are “beyond words stunned and grieved” over the loss of their colleague, whom the station characterized as “a highly experienced and brilliant broadcaster with an army of admirers for his daily show.”

James Hazell, the managing director of GenX Radio Suffolk and a longtime acquaintance of Gough, lauded the radio personality.

“Tim has been on the radio since the 1980s and came out of radio retirement to actively participate himself in our project from the outset, to bring local commercial radio back to his beloved Suffolk, and was incredibly excited for our DAB debut at the end of the month,” said Hazell in a statement.

“To know Tim personally, as I did for almost 30 years, was to know a kind, compassionate, and humorous man whom my family and I adored. We are deeply saddened by the news, “The assertion continued. “I am certain that his family has been greatly comforted by the hundreds of kind comments they have received, and they have requested privacy during this tragic time.”

Monday’s social media post from GenX Radio Suffolk also paid tribute to Gough’s legacy and extended condolences to his family.

The station stated, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I must inform you that our good friend and breakfast host Tim Gough passed away this morning while delivering his program.” “Our love to his mother, son, sister, and brother. Tim was pursuing his passion.”

According to a biography published on the GenX website, Gough began his career in radio more than three decades ago. He worked for various local stations in the United Kingdom, including Radio Orwell, Saxon Radio, and SGR-FM, and also appeared on the national station Smooth Radio. Gough has returned from retirement to broadcast GenX Radio Suffolk’s morning breakfast series.

The station reported that Gough leaves behind a mother, brother, sister, and son.
