More than 50 Marian icons honour Mary’s birth

To commemorate the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, more than 50 Marian pictures are on display in the oldest major shopping mall in the Philippines.

At the Ali Mall in Quezon City, the display “Salamat Maria: Tribute to the Beloved Mother’s Birthday” opened on September 1 and will remain there until September 10.

“Together with our partner Marian devotees, we unveil this exhibit to convey the devotion of our community to Mama Mary in time for the celebration of her birthday,” Ali Mall property manager Aileen Ibay said in a statement on September 7.

We want to arouse devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and deepen mall-goers’ already-fervent faith, added Ibay.

The exhibit was inaugurated and blessed by Father Diogo D’Souza, priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Help church in Quezon City.

Ibay said that Masses were planned in the chapels of the Gateway Mall, Ali Mall, and Farmers Plaza shopping malls on September 8, a working holiday in the Philippines.

The replica of the Immaculate Conception of Malabón, Our Lady of the Abandoned in Manila, and Nuestra Seora De Las Flores, who is revered in the province of Oriental Mindoro, are three examples of the pictures included in the exhibition.

During mall hours, visitors may see the pictures of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the lower ground level.
