Approximately 30 passengers were injured Thursday morning after two minibus taxis crashed on Carse O’ Gowrie Road in Houghton, north-east of Johannesburg, according to emergency medical services.

According to a statement from Arrive Alive, upon arrival at the scene, Emer-G-Med paramedics discovered injured passengers scrambling to safety from the smashed automobiles.

The injured were treated and stabilized at the scene before being transported by ambulance to hospitals throughout the city for additional care.

In a separate collision on Thursday, 16 people were injured and transferred to nearby hospitals when two taxis crashed on Houghton’s Boundary Road.

After receiving treatment and enhanced life support before being transferred to the hospital, it was stated that four of the injured were in severe condition.

The authorities are investigating the circumstances behind these incidents.
