Moment a man wielding a pair of scissors chases another man through a shop before repeatedly stabbing him in the head

This is the moment a man brandishing a pair of scissors pursues another man through a store before repeatedly stabbing him in the head.

Ryan McLean, 39, received almost three years in prison for brutally injuring a 29-year-old man on February 27 in Portslade, Brighton.

After a 62-day manhunt, Brighton resident McLean was located and apprehended by police 211 miles from the location of the crime.

He was seen on surveillance footage from the convenience store Rishi News cornering and “viciously assaulting” his victim in the storage area.

Detective Inspector Neil Phillips said: ‘Ryan McLean is a violent offender with a significant criminal history and we are pleased to have taken him off the streets where he can cause no more harm to the public.

‘Despite his attempts to evade capture, we and our partners in Merseyside Police were able to track him down and bring him to justice.

‘The age-old message that ‘you can run but you can’t hide’ still rings true, and this sentence should serve as a warning to anybody attempting to hide from the law that they will be found and justice will be served.’

Prior to getting out of the car and continuing the pursuit on foot through Portslade soon before noon, McLean was seen pursuing his victim’s car at a high rate of speed.

McLean shoved his way through the shop employee who was trying to stop him from pursuing the victim and attacked him.

After repeatedly stabbing him in the head, he fled, prompting a manhunt and the offering of a £3,000 reward by Crimestoppers for information leading to his apprehension.

On April 29, more than 60 days later, he was taken into custody in the Dingle area of Liverpool as part of a coordinated operation involving Sussex and Merseyside police.

When he was arrested, McLean asked officers: ‘Is this about that thing down south?’

He was accused of having a dangerous weapon in a public place and causing severe bodily harm with intent before pleading guilty to both charges.

On July 15, McLean was given concurrent prison terms of 33 months for severe bodily harm and six months for possessing an offensive weapon at Lewes Crown Court.

In addition, he was given a further four-week jail term to run concurrently for violating the terms of a previously suspended prison term for knife possession and drug driving.
