Missing woman’s family expresses concern about investigation’s inconsistencies

MailOnline has revealed a concerning oversight in the investigation into the disappearance of Sarm Heslop, as it has emerged that the US Coast Guard failed to record Ryan Bane’s phone call reporting her missing.

Heslop, a 42-year-old former flight attendant from Southampton, was last seen on 8th March 2021 with Bane in the US Virgin Islands.

Bane, Heslop’s boyfriend, reportedly waited nine hours before reporting her missing to the coast guard, despite being advised to do so by the police.

The lack of a recording of Bane’s call has been blamed on a ‘fault in the system,’ leading Heslop’s family to express concerns about the investigation’s inconsistencies.

Police in the US Virgin Islands has also come under criticism for failing to respond to requests for more information about the case, including public records requests.

Heslop’s family has expressed frustration at the lack of progress in the investigation, with her mother, Brenda Street, stating that the family is ‘absolutely gutted.’

Street has called on British police to investigate and forensically examine her daughter’s belongings.

Bane, who is not a suspect, was allowed to sail away from St Thomas and has reportedly renamed his catamaran, the Siren Song, and put it up for sale for £170,000.

Adding to the family’s concerns is Bane’s ex-wife, Cori Stevenson, who has alleged that he has a history of violence and controlling behaviour.

Bane’s current whereabouts are unknown, and his lawyer has not responded to requests for comment.
