Senator Godswill Akpabio emerged as the President of the Senate, while Senator Jibrin Barau won the position of Deputy Senate President.

Creation of Leadership by President Tinubu and APC

According to Ladipo Johnson, the spokesman of the NNPP Presidential Campaign Council, the leadership of the 10th National Assembly is the product of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He suggests that this close association between the executive and the legislature may limit the potential for healthy disagreements, which are essential in a constitutional democracy.

Expectations for Executive-Legislature Relationship

Johnson further emphasizes that Nigerians should not anticipate significant disagreements between the executive and the legislature, given the emergence of Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.

This lack of conflict raises concerns since a healthy disagreement between the two branches of government is crucial for effective governance.

Victory Attributed to Extensive Consultations

Rufus Aiyenigba, the National Publicity Secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), attributes the success of Akpabio and Abbas to extensive and intensive consultations across different party lines.
