Michael Shilling was successfully prosecuted by the Environment Agency.

At Sevenoaks Magistrates Court, he was sentenced to a £4,500 fine, £6,779 in costs, a £190 victims’ fee, and £11,086 in restitution to Iron Mountain (UK) PLC. £22,555 in total.

When deciding on a sentence, the magistrate took into account his guilty plea.

Mr. Shilling, 61, admitted to having the ability to control the use of a Scania skip loader while residing at Raspberry Hill Park Farm in Iwade, Kent.

In addition, he admitted that he had purposefully allowed rubbish to be dumped illegally at Gills Terrace, Otterham Quay Lane in Rainham, Kent. On December 14, 2020, the Iron Mountain (UK) website.

Environment Manager Matt Higginson of the Environment Agency said:

This prosecution, along with the vehicle’s seizure and destruction, demonstrates our commitment to tracking down and prosecuting anyone caught illegally dumping waste.

Illegally dumping trash without regard for the law or the environment could endanger our natural resources.

Additionally, it degrades neighbourhoods and undermines law-abiding businesses. It won’t go unpunished.

Everyone is urged to confirm that their garbage collector is listed on the waste carrier registry.

An Environment Agency employee learned on December 22, 2020, that trash had been dumped on the property at Otterham Quay Lane.

The officer obtained more information, including CCTV footage, on January 8, 2021.

The video demonstrated that on the evening of December 14, Mr. Shilling’s vehicle approached the area three times.

On December 15, 2020, an Iron Mountain (UK) employee who was on his way to work noticed some burning rubbish that had been deposited.

Shredded garbage including plastics, paper, mattress fabric, and fibre was discovered on the property.

According to a declaration filed by an Iron Mountain (UK) employee, when he arrived at the site for work on December 15, 2020, the debris was smoking.

A Kent Police constable and an Environment Agency officer attended Raspberry Hill Park, close to Iwade, Kent, on February 25, 2021.

They discovered the truck that was used to dump the garbage on December 14.

The vehicle was confiscated and crushed by the Environment Agency and Kent Police for alleged trash offences.
