Tropical Storm Beatriz has emerged off the southern Pacific coast of Mexico and is projected to intensify into a hurricane by Friday.
The storm poses a significant threat to the southwestern region of Mexico.
As of late Thursday, Beatriz was located approximately 100 miles south-southwest of Acapulco, moving west-northwest at a speed of 12mph.
It currently sustains maximum winds of 40mph, according to the US National Hurricane Center.
Hurricane Warning and Anticipated Impact
A hurricane warning has been issued from Zihuatanejo to Playa Perula, signaling the potential severity of the storm.
Beatriz is expected to decrease its forward motion over the weekend, resulting in heavy rainfall as it grazes several southern Mexican states.

Continued Movement of Hurricane Adrian
In the meantime, Hurricane Adrian continues to move away from land and into the open expanse of the Pacific Ocean.
Late Thursday, Adrian was positioned approximately 440 miles south-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, heading northwest at 8mph.
Its maximum sustained winds strengthened to 90mph; however, it does not pose a direct threat to any inhabited areas.
