Met Police reports the arrest of Amir Khan’s robbers

According to the Metropolitan Police, three people have been charged in connection with the April gunpoint robbery of former boxing world champion Amir Khan in east London.

The 35-year-old boxer and his wife were robbed of his diamond-encrusted Franck Muller Vanguard Chronograph outside the Sahara Grill in Leyton on April 18.

One of the two individuals who approached the former world champion in the street brandished a gun before stealing his £72,000 Rolex watch.

Police detained three guys, aged 25, 34, and 20, yesterday on robbery suspect.

Ahmed Bana, 25, Nurul Amin, 24, and Dante Campbell, 20, were charged this morning, it was revealed.

Khan was spotted wearing his showy watch, which is worth about £72,000 and is set with 719 diamonds, hours before to the incident while shopping in Oxford Street with a fan.

Additionally, the Olympic medalist was seen wearing it in an Instagram post from a charity event the previous evening at the Grosvenor House Hotel, sparking concerns that he may have been singled out for attack.

Khan was clearly upset by the experience, a witness told The Sun, adding: “They were not hanging around.” They immediately jumped in the car and took off.

Amir had gone shopping earlier in the day and had a nice evening with his wife. There are valid concerns that he was intended as a target. It’s a very grave situation. He was left in complete terror.

Lamisah, Muhammad, and Alayna are the three children of Khan and Makhdoom, who wed in 2013 in New York.

‘Just had my watch taken off me at gun point in East London, Leyton,’ Khan tweeted at the time.

Fortunately, Faryal was a few feet behind me when I crossed the street with her.

Two men rushed over to me, and one of them demanded my watch while pointing a gun in my direction. What matters most is that we are both safe.

“Tackling robbery is a critical priority for the Met, and these arrests highlight our dedication to bringing individuals intent on using violence, or the threat of violence, off of our streets,” said Detective Sergeant Lee Warrington of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.

Khan was ambushed in 2012 by a group of armed men who allegedly tried to take his £100,000 Range Rover.

According to a witness, “These guys tried to jump Amir and his brother, but they picked on the wrong chaps,” as reported in The Sun.

Their vehicle was parked in front of the Range Rover. One had a cosh, at least. Amir was smacked and clipped in the mouth by one, but he pulled back and knocked him out instantly.

Then five of them went for Amir and Haroon, but they resisted, and one by one, these guys were taken out. All these men were doing was defending their property, nevertheless they left them with wounds and bruises.
