Memphis hospital’s lockdown is lifted

Following a shootout outside the entrance to Memphis’ Methodist North Hospital emergency room, which left six people hurt, the hospital’s lockdown has been lifted.

Tuesday at 12:47 a.m., police arrived at the scene of the shooting.

The hospital declared the lockdown was over shortly before 8 a.m. Six patients received medical attention before being taken to Regional One and Le Bonheur hospitals.

A silver sedan had reportedly stopped at the median of the intersection of Austin Peay and Walter K. Singleton Parkway, according to local news outlet ABC24.

According to the report, the car’s driver’s side had at least 20 bullet holes.

The shooter’s condition is currently unknown.

‘A shooting took place close to Methodist North Hospital early this morning. No hospital staff members were hurt.

The hospital stated in a statement that six patients were attended to before being taken to Regional One and Le Bonheur hospitals.

We are grateful for the quick action taken by our staff to direct patients away from the ED waiting area so that our security team and the Memphis Police Department could respond right away. At this time, there is no lockdown at the hospital.
