Sunday, a migrant mother who had recently arrived in New York City committed suicide at one of the city’s shelters, according to Mayor Eric Adams.

After arriving via bus from Texas to Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, migrants are put into MTA buses.

Gov. Greg Abbott has been criticized for his plan to transport migrants across the country. Eric Adams, the governor of New York City, has said that his legal team is considering filing a lawsuit against him.

In recent months, according to New York’s Democratic mayor, the city’s capabilities for hosting refugees have been stretched to the breaking point, with the opening of 23 emergency shelters.

Adams stated that 38 additional shelters will be constructed to address the growing problem.

On Sunday, at least six buses carrying asylum seekers arrived in New York from Texas, while the city’s shelters approached capacity. Since May, approximately 11,000 migrants have arrived in the city, of which Governor Abbott sent 2,500 on buses.

Adams disclosed to WCBS that his team is considering the possibility of employing cruise ships to house the thousands of passengers who would be bused into New York City.

In addition, he stated, “We evaluated the legality of employing any sort of cruise ship as temporary housing.”
