Massive manhunt underway for three ‘dangerous’ fugitives

Following the escape of three prisoners awaiting trial on Wednesday, a huge manhunt is currently underway.

The men escaped while being taken from the Groblersdal magistrate’s court in Limpopo to the Witbank prison in Mpumalanga.

Between the ages of 20 and 40, Michael Masimula, Mahlatse Matebane, and Lovemore Moshui had a brief court appearance before being returned to prison. Next to the Mouse Mall in Dennilton, Limpopo, the three fled.

Police spokeswoman Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo stated that the fugitives appeared in court on accusations of murder, rape, armed robberies, cash-in-transit heists, and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

“The suspects are deemed dangerous, and individuals are warned not to approach them. They should instead contact the police [when they spot the suspects]. Mojapelo stated that the circumstances behind their escape are still being probed.

Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe, provincial police commissioner for Limpopo, has ordered that the fugitives be tracked down and returned to their proper location.

Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the three men is asked to call Lieutenant-Colonel Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501.
