Manchester United are facing a battle to convince Christian Eriksen to move to Old Trafford with the club

According to sources, Manchester United is striving to persuade Christian Eriksen to move to Old Trafford, with the club proving difficult to sell this summer.

The Red Devils have emerged as serious contenders for the Denmark international, who will be available on a free transfer at the end of the month after leaving Brentford.

Eriksen has a slew of suitors around Europe after dazzling since his comeback to football, with only Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne creating more opportunities since making his Brentford debut.

Erik ten Hag is said to be a great fan of Eriksen and saw him up close when the 30-year-old was building up fitness with Ajax’s youth team at the end of last season.

United, on the other hand, face a big challenge in convincing the playmaker to join them at Old Trafford because Eriksen wants to stay in London.

The former Inter Milan player lived in London for six and a half years while at Tottenham before returning to the metropolis when he joined Brentford.

Spurs have also made a bid to lure Eriksen back to the club and are quietly confident of succeeding, despite the midfielder’s apprehension about relocating his young family.

Eriksen also wants to play Champions League football, something United cannot provide, and Spurs are hoping that the possibility to rejoin with Antonio Conte will be a huge draw.

At Inter, the midfielder had some time to adjust to the Italian style of play, but he was an integral component of the team’s title victory.

Eriksen is anticipated to take some time to study all of the offers he has received before making his next move before the end of the month, given that Denmark’s Nations League matches are completed.

Interestingly, when rumors of United’s interest in Eriksen first surfaced, it was reported that he was being lined up as a backup plan for Frenkie de Jong if a deal could not be agreed upon with Barcelona for the Dutchman.

Ten Hag, on the other hand, appears to desire both Eriksen and De Jong, believing that the team has been lacking in creativity and players who can get on the ball.
