David Lewandowski from Mooresville, North Carolina, won £180,000 after he forgot to complete his online purchase of a Cash 5 lottery ticket on Sunday, February 19.

When he realized his error the following day, he decided to try his luck in the next draw and used his regular choice of randomly-selected numbers.

Thanks to his mistake, Lewandowski won the $218,613 jackpot in a draw that he wouldn’t have entered but for his payment error the previous day.

The lucky winner plans to use his winnings for a down payment on a condo in Puerto Rico. Lewandowski’s win is reminiscent of another fortunate lottery win last month when a 67-year-old pensioner from Michigan bought two tickets for the same draw, forgetting he had already purchased the first and ended up winning $220,000.
