In New Zealand, a man was viciously mauled to death by his own dogs before officials were compelled to shoot one of the beasts.

Before assaulting the old guy, four of his six dogs turned hostile.

Emergency services attended the area on Puketawa Road in Panguru where they found the pack roaming the area

When emergency services arrived, they discovered the pack wandering about on Panguru’s Puketawa Road.

A local police official stated that the 69-year-old passed away from injuries sustained during the mauling.

Initial evidence revealed that the dead had been the victim of a dog attack, they claimed, adding that police had responded to a sudden death earlier today.

“Animal control and the police have made an effort to contain the dogs on the premises.”

Four of the dogs, however, managed to escape and started acting aggressively.

The dogs constituted a risk to their safety, according to a police risk assessment. Unfortunately, one of the dogs was shot by the police and died when they were trying to confine them.

The public has been cautioned by authorities to avoid the area because of the dogs.
