Chethan, 17 years old, was murdered by a tiger while harvesting coffee on a plantation adjacent to a forest in Karnataka, southern India, on February 12 evening.

On 13 February, just hours later, his grandfather, Raju, a 75-year-old tribal man, was attacked in the same region near Nagarahole National Park.

Raju was at his grandson’s residence for the funeral and reportedly stepped outdoors to relieve himself at 6:30 a.m. Reportedly, the tiger grabbed him by the head and killed him.

The Hindustan Times said that another family member, 56-year-old Jayamma, died of shock after hearing about the fatalities.A man and his grandson have been mauled to death in separate Bengal tiger attacks within 12 hours of each other

Both occurrences occurred within 500 meters of one other and approximately one kilometer from the Nagarhole wildlife sanctuary, therefore it is assumed that the same animal was responsible.

According to reports, the boy’s father, the grandson of the grandfather, was hurt in the first attack and is currently recovering in hospital. On February 14, the coffee plantation was searched high and low and eventually the tiger was discovered close to Nanachi Gate of the Nagarhole National Park

The Hindustan Times stated that forest officers promptly issued a 2.5 lakh (about £2,500) check to the boy’s parents following the initial occurrence.

As quickly as possible, an operation was launched to catch the dangerous animal and avoid other attacks in the neighborhood.

Locals believed that the tiger in issue was old and unable to hunt, driving it to attack humans instead. Locals stated there was no alternative to killing the tiger after it began feeding on humans.

The Bengal tiger was also believed to have been harmed at this point, as both the adolescent and the grandfather had apparently attempted to repel the large feline before to their deaths.

B.N. Murthy, the Kodagu Circle’s Conservator of Forests, stated that over 250 forest personnel had joined forces to track down the man-eating beast.

To capture the Bengal tiger, 30 trap cameras, three cages, and five elephants were set up throughout the region.

The tiger was located in close proximity to the Nanachi Gate of the Nagarhole National Park on February 14, after an exhaustive search of a coffee plantation.

According to reports, the search team tranquilized the nine-year-old man-eating tiger prior to catching it.

Since October 2021, this was the seventh attack by tigers and leopards in the region.
