Magnus Carlsen, the world’s top chess player, accused fellow grandmaster Hans Niemann of cheating by using vibrating anal beads to win matches.
Carlsen, age 31, stated on Monday that his decision to immediately resign from the Sinquefield Cup match versus Niemann after only one move on September 19 was a “professional decision” made to safeguard the integrity of the game of chess.
Carlsen remarked in a statement, “I am aware that my actions have angered many in the chess world.” “I’m irritated. I wish to engage in chess. I wish to continue playing chess at the greatest level in the most prestigious tournaments.
I consider chess cheating to be a serious issue and an existential threat to the game.
Later, he continued, ‘I have only been able to communicate by my acts, and those actions have made it very plain that I am unwilling to play chess with Niemann. I hope the truth regarding this case is revealed, whatever it may be.
In the meantime, Niemann has continued to refute the claims of cheating.
I have never cheated during a board game. If they want me to undress completely, I will do it,’ Niemann had previously stated.

Hans Niemann, a teenager from the United States, was accused by Carlsen of cheating in chess by using vibrating anal beads.
Carlsen elaborated in his remarks on the need to increase game security procedures to prevent cheating.

‘His over-the-board development has been atypical, and throughout our Sinquefield Cup match I had the sensation that he wasn’t nervous or even fully focused on the game in important positions, while outplaying me as black in a manner that I believe only a handful of players are capable of. This game helped to my perspective shift,’ wrote Carlsen.
Niemann and Carlsen played for less than a minute before the world champion abruptly resigned, as captured on tournament footage.
Carlsen wrote, “We must do something about cheating, and I don’t want to play against players who have cheated repeatedly in the past, because I have no idea what they are capable of doing in the future.”
Niemann has vehemently denied using anal beads to acquire playing advice, stating that he would “strip naked” if necessary.

Arkady Dvorkovich, the head of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), said in a statement released on Friday that he disapproved of Carlsen’s behavior in withdrawing from the Sinquefield Cup and abandoning his match against his 19-year-old opponent.
