A few months after accepting John Maduka’s resignation letter, Royal AM stated in an official statement on Thursday that the club had rehired him as head coach.
Maduka abruptly left Royal AM at the end of last season after guiding them to a third-place finish in the DStv Premiership; his departure at the time astonished many.
Following his dismissal from Maritzburg United, rumors of his possible return to Royal AM emerged. Despite Shauwn Mkhize’s initial denial, it is evident that there were discussions behind the scenes, and she has now welcomed him back with open arms.
“There is nothing more vital than maintaining the integrity of your dressing room. “You can lose everything in soccer, but you must NEVER lose your locker room,” the president of Royal AM wrote on social media.
“This is where you should be, Coach Maduka. It’s TIME to complete what we began… When I stated it doesn’t matter how you fall, I meant it. What counts most is how you get yourself up after falling. Welcome to Your Home.”
MADUKA will be desperate to ensure that ROYAL AM have a fortunate turn of events.
After leaving Royal AM, Maduka joined Maritzburg United, although he struggled to make the desired effect in KZN.
It is unknown whether Maduka will be the head coach with Abram Nteo serving as his assistant, or whether the two would serve as co-coaches.
Maduka’s debut game in charge will be against Golden Arrows in a KZN derby.
