Lukoil’s Ravil Maganov apparently fell from a hospital window

According to Russian official media, Ravil Maganov, the head of Russia’s Lukoil oil company, passed away after falling from a hospital window.

According to TASS, a state-run news outlet, anonymous law enforcement officials confirmed that Maganov, 67, committed himself.

“Following a heart attack, he was [being treated] there. He was also taking antidepressants, “Thursday was reported by TASS.

Later on, Lukoil acknowledged his passing, but added that Maganov “died away after a severe illness.”

This is the sixth occasion this year in which prominent Russian energy executives have died in mysterious circumstances.

Alexander Subbotin, a former senior executive and board member of Lukoil, perished in May, according to Russian media, after questionable treatment from a “shaman” that included getting a toad-poison injection.

Two former senior administrators of Gazprombank, a sizable bank connected to a Gazprom gas subsidiary, and Novatek, Russia’s second-largest natural gas producer, were discovered dead in April, along with their families. According to state media, they murdered their partners and kids before committing themselves.

In the 1980s, Maganov started working for a business that would eventually become Lukoil, and he is credited with giving the firm its current name. He joined the board of directors in 1993, and in 2020 he was made chairman. He served as the organization’s first executive vice president as well. Nail Maganov, the CEO of Tatneft, a significant oil producer in the Tatarstan area, is Maganov’s brother.

Just days after the invasion on February 24, Lukoil was the only significant state oil producer to publicly demand a “rapid conclusion of the armed confrontation” in Ukraine.

In a statement at the time, Lukoil declared, “We firmly support its conclusion via dialogue, through diplomatic measures.” The business is making an attempt to maintain steady operations in all of the nations and areas where it operates.

A close friend of millionaire Vagit Alekperov, one of the founders of Lukoil, who resigned as CEO in April days after receiving sanctions from the UK and the EU, was Ravil Maganov.
