Lihle Msimang discusses Khanyi Mbau’s roast

Lihle Msimang has dominated the comedy scene since he decided to devote himself to it full-time.

Msimang’s career began after she won in the 2011 Nando’s Comedy Showdown. She has since brought laughter to a number of comedy venues, including Blacks Only, MaCufe Comedy, Laugh in Your Language, and the Johannesburg International Comedy Festival, to mention a few.

The stand-up comic contributed to the writing of Khanyi Mbau’s Roast for Comedy Central.

She discussed the encounter in an interview with IOL Entertainment.

It’s one of those situations when you can act viciously. You are aware that we live in a dangerous world and that you must exercise caution. We could be as cruel as we wanted with this one.

“Working on the roast and with the guests was incredibly nice. The panelists were really transparent and enjoyable to work with. The most receptive of them all, Khanyi Mbau, said Msimang, “If you thinking about it, you write about it.

Msimang has prior experience working with Comedy Central before “The Roast.” On Comedy Central Live at the Savanna Virtual Comedy Bar, she collaborated with them.

Comedy Central Live at the Savanna Virtual Comedy Bar’s first seasons were produced in-studio and during the lockdown. Nevertheless, comedians are back on the road to perform for live audiences now that the nation is open.

For the first time in a very long time, Msimang got to see how audiences responded to her humor in person rather than just as a virtual experience when she was the star of a performance in Mbombela.

Many comedians were compelled to use the internet as another kind of “comedy bar” because of the epidemic.

Msimang claims that in a nation where “comedy specials” are not as popular as they are in America, comedians were able to reach a wider audience online.

For us African comedians, she said, “it’s very amazing because now we can actually be on the map.”

Msimang said that seeing women attend the concert without their partners made her more delighted that she was able to record her own comedy special.

Msimang makes fun of the fact that women frequently find it harder to laugh heartily when they go to performances with their love partners.

Msimang, who is now on the comedy circuit, used to draw inspiration from some of her favorite comics, like Wanda Sykes and Chris Rock.

But along the road, she discovered her voice and passion, which is people watching.

The single mother avoids politics and draws inspiration from her own experiences for her comedic presentation.

Comedy Central Africa (DStv Channel 122) will air the Comedy Central Live at the Savanna Comedy Bar broadcast at 10 p.m.
