After months of waiting, hospital workers in Ohio showered a toddler with euphoric applause and bubbles as he prepared to have a heart transplant. The moving display was taken down on January 19; nonetheless, it has garnered 4.1 million views on TikTok in a short of days.
In the tear-jerking video, taken at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Mark’s ecstatic mother Patience Clouse said, “Our son has a new heart!” I am still in awe that his surgeon conducted such a significant and life-saving operation on a heart the size of our thumb.
The heartwarming video shows 15-month-old Mark Clouse Jr. being wheeled down a corridor lined with cheering medical personnel on his way to his long-awaited surgery.

is scheduled to be discharged from the hospital on Thursday, February 9. Thankfully, the procedure went ahead without a hitch. “After eight arduous months as inpatients, we are about to be released!” Mark’s mother shouted in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Mark was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a severe form of congenital heart disease, at 35 weeks gestation, according to Action News 5. This marked the conclusion of a long and arduous journey that began when Mark was diagnosed with HLHS.
As reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this genetic issue affects the normal flow of blood to the heart and affects the development of the left side of the ticker in 1 out of every 100 infants.
As a result, the infant required his first open-heart surgery at only 6 days of age. Mark experienced a huge stroke when he was just a few weeks old, followed by a lesser stroke a few months later. In addition, he suffered from regular seizures that reduced his quality of life.
The family was first able to alleviate Mark’s discomfort with medication. However, the child developed heart failure throughout the summer, prompting his placement on a transplant waiting list.
“We waited seven months for a heart and prayed every day that God would perform a miracle, a complete healing without medical intervention,” Mark’s mother said on Facebook. “In many ways, God was with our son and our family, ensuring that we made it to the day for which we had waited so long: Heart Transplant Day!”
Mark was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) at barely 35 weeks gestation. HLHS is a rare genetic disease that prevents the left side of the heart from developing normally, disrupting the normal blood flow to the heart.

Mark’s body has thankfully accepted the replacement heart, and he is healing well from surgery, according to Patience.
She commented, “If everything continues to go well over the next few months and no rejection or illness occurs, we should be able to go home together in April/May!”
