Text messages exchanged between the businessman and attorney and submitted to the court demonstrated the existence of a romantic relationship prior to the attorney’s declaration of love.
‘I’m going to say it. I am smitten with you. One note stated, “I’ve attempted to conceal so much from you.”
The court heard that the woman and her partner had broken up in July, according to The Daily Telegraph.
According to court filings, the businessman texted the attorney expressing his delight at having met her.
His text stated, “I do trust you, and I’m glad we met and that you represent me.”
The man wrote in another text, “You make me grin.”
According to court filings, the attorney texted the businessman that she needed to withdraw from the case.
The businessman subsequently filed a motion to postpone the trial.
He requested a delay in his case while he hunts for a new attorney.
The motion was denied on the grounds that the businessman had dismissed his attorney at his own peril.
