Kidnapping Suspects and Other Criminals Arrested in Kwara State

The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended Abubakar Shehu, aka Dogo, who is the leader of a kidnapping gang that abducted the wife of a former Military Administrator of Bauchi and Osun states, Magistrate Jumoke Bamigboye.

Dogo was arrested by a combined team of vigilantes and police anti-kidnapping unit along Eiyenkorin axis of Ilorin metropolis on 05/03/2023, following an intelligence report about his activities in the area.

Other members of his five-man gang were also identified as Mohammed Aliyu, Yunusa Ahmadu, Malami Usman, and Dauda Amosa.

Arrests of Other Criminals

The Commissioner of Police, Paul Odama, disclosed that the police operatives attached to Banni Division also apprehended another gang of five kidnappers, in conjunction with local vigilantes, in the Banni forest where they were using as their hideout.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being kidnappers, with two of their members being residents of Niger State.

Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing members of the kidnap gang.

The police also arrested 22 other suspects for various offences, including belonging to secret cults, attempting to commit culpable homicide, and belonging to a gang of thieves.

They were arrested based on intelligence that suspected ritualists were seen gathered at an isolated hotel in Malete town, Moro Local Government Area of the state.

Incriminating items, including local pots with concoction, natural sponges, and smartphones, were recovered from the suspects who claimed to be internet fraudsters.

However, the police are investigating them for possible involvement in ritual activities.
