Ongoing Search for Additional Suspects in Kidnapping and Murder of MUT Lecturer
The police in KwaZulu-Natal continue their efforts to locate two additional suspects who are believed to be involved in the kidnapping and murder of Chanlall Dwarika, an Electrical Engineering lecturer at Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT).
Apprehension of Two Suspects and Discovery of Victim’s Body
On Saturday, 3 June, two suspects were apprehended after the body of the 61-year-old lecturer was found near Mafuya Road in Inanda.
Charges Filed Against Suspects in Murder Case
According to Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS) in KwaZulu-Natal, the two men who were arrested in connection with the kidnapping have now been charged with murder.
Disappearance and Investigation
Dwarika, who was last seen on Sunday, 28 May, was reported missing.
Subsequently, charges of kidnapping and carjacking were filed as a result of the police investigation.
CCTV Footage Reveals Details
CCTV footage obtained from the day of the incident revealed three men forcibly escorting the elderly lecturer into the back of his black Honda CRV.
Since then, there had been no sightings or news about the victim.
