Kirk Cameron criticizes public schools for promoting far-left philosophy.

American schools, according to actor Kirk Cameron, are becoming breeding grounds for far-left progressive objectives like critical race theory and gender ideology.

The actor made the remarks in reference to Caleb Price’s upcoming film ‘The Homeschool Awakening,’ which he wrote and directed.

The film follows 17 homeschooling families as they respond to prejudices and misconceptions.

‘The issue is that systems have deteriorated to such an extent,’ he told Fox News Digital.

‘It’s sad to say they’re doing more for grooming, for sexual chaos and the progressive left than any real educating about the things that most of us want to teach our kids.’

Cameron shared his own experience with home-schooling his six children with his wife, Chelsea.

‘Homeschool was not on our radar screen because we had these misconceptions and stereotypes like so many people do. Like, you know, that’s for like Quakers and the Amish, and how could you possibly teach your kids enough so that they get into college? What about socialization?’ Cameron said.

He added his children had been better able to socialize with people of different ages after home schooling, contrary to misconceptions about the practice.

Psychological studies have arrived at different conclusions about the impact of home schooling on child socialization.

The actor hit out against a list of subjects which he said were ‘destroying the family, destroying the church, destroying love for our great country’.

He singled out critical race theory, gender theory, as well as The New York Times’ 1619 Project – a reframing of US history that puts the legacy of slavery at its center.

The start of the Covid-19 pandemic, he said, had opened the eyes of parents to what their children were being taught in schools, leading to a surge in support for homeschooling.

Around 3% of US students were homeschooled before the pandemic-induced surge, according to the US Census Bureau.

The number of homeschooling students increased by 63% in the 2020-2021 school year, in 18 states that shared data.

Cameron got in hot water for featuring pastor James MacDonald, whom he described as a close friend, as a guest on his TBN program on ‘biblical illiteracy’.

Pastor MacDonald was fired from harvest Bible Chapel in February 2019, following reports of financial misconduct.

A financial review found he had misused millions of church funds, but Cameron did not mentioned the scandal when featuring the pastor on his show.

The Homeschool Awakening is set to come to theaters for two nights only on June 13 and June 14 at 7:00pm local time.
