King Charles III has landed in Northern Ireland as part of his inaugural visit of the United Kingdom.
Tuesday morning, the king, age 73, and Queen Consort Camilla met with Lord Lieutenant of Belfast Fionnuala Jay-O’Boyle at Belfast City Airport.
According to a press release from Buckingham Palace issued to Insider, the couple’s itinerary in Belfast includes a visit to Hillsborough Castle, where they will meet with Gawn William Rowan Hamilton, Lord-Lieutenant of County Down.

They will then observe floral tributes to Queen Elizabeth, who passed away at Balmoral Palace on Thursday at the age of 96, during a tour of the castle.
The king is scheduled to meet privately with Northern Ireland Secretary of State Chris Heaton-Harris before travelling for St Anne’s Cathedral in the afternoon.
The couple’s final engagement will be a Service of Reflection for the life of Queen Elizabeth at St. Anne’s. The press announcement estimates that approximately 800 attendees will attend the service.
The couple traveled to Scotland last week. The procession that followed the Queen’s coffin from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh was led by King Charles.
They attended a Thanksgiving Service and vigil at the cathedral, where Charles and his siblings stood watch over the casket.
