Kim Kardashian and Kanye West finalize divorce

Kim Kardashian and Ye have settled their divorce, avoiding a trial scheduled for next month, according to court records filed on Tuesday.

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, will pay Kardashian $200,000 a month in child support, according to court records filed by the former couple and their counsel.

According to court records filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the couple will have joint custody, and neither will pay alimony to the other.

In March, at Kardashian’s request, the judge declared the couple legally single, dissolving their eight-year marriage. However, property and custody concerns remained, and a trial was scheduled to begin on December 14.

The ages of the couple’s four children span from 3 to 9 years.

According to the settlement plan, Kardashian and Ye would equally divide the costs for the children’s private security and private education, including college.

In addition, they will each pay their own obligations, according to the agreement. The couple had a prenuptial agreement and generally kept their assets separate.

In 2012, the couple began dating, and in 2013, they welcomed their first child. The two were married on May 24, 2014, at a Renaissance stronghold in Florence, Italy. West proposed later that year using the enormous screen at the vacant waterfront ballpark of the San Francisco Giants.

When Kardashian filed for divorce in February of 2021, the couple looked to be headed for an amicable breakup with mutually acceptable terms. Neither mentioned the breakup publicly until early this year, when Ye began attacking Kardashian, her family, and Pete Davidson on social media. His objections included his exclusion from birthday celebrations and other occasions for their children and his inability to participate in crucial parenting choices.

Ye, who has fired two attorneys since filing for divorce, also raised a number of technical objections and requests, including a request to interrogate Kardashian’s new spouse under oath, which Judge Steve Cochran immediately denied.

The deal was reached shortly after a number of corporations severed relations with Ye due to his hateful and antisemitic statements, which further damaged his already deteriorating public image.

Nicholas Salick, his most recent attorney, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the deal.

It was the third marriage for Kardashian, a reality television personality, entrepreneur, and influencer, and the first for Ye, a fashion and rap mogul. Their marriage was one of the most widely watched in recent decades.
