Keira Knightley has been announced as the lead star in the upcoming Netflix series, Black Doves.

The British actress, known for her roles in Pride & Prejudice, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Imitation Game, will play the character of Helen in the eight-part series.

Black Doves is a Christmas drama with rising diplomatic tensions as its backdrop. Knightley will play a woman in the midst of a passionate affair, as her secret identity begins to unravel.

The actress also serves as executive producer of the series, alongside Jane Featherstone, Chris Fry, and Joe Barton.

Netflix has announced that it will also adapt the Danish Nordic noir novel series, Department Q. Based on the novels by Jussi Adler-Olsen, the eight-part series will be set in Edinburgh and lead-directed by Scott Frank, known for The Queen’s Gambit and Logan.

The company also announced Bank of Dave: The Sequel, which follows up on the film Bank of Dave, starring Rory Kinnear.
