Kate Middleton takes over Boston in style

On night one of her trip to the United States for the Earthshot Prize with Prince William, the Princess of Wales dazzled in two high-end designer clothes. She traded in her bespoke Burberry plaid dress and Alexander McQueen coat for a vintage Chanel jacket to see the Boston Celtics play yesterday.

Middleton, 40, arrived at Boston’s City Hall Plaza wearing a festive green tartan dress by Burberry beneath a custom-made green coat by Alexander McQueen.

It’s interesting to note that the princess has only worn Burberry once, donning a brown trench back in 2011.

Since yesterday was Saint Andrew’s Day in Scotland, it was natural for her to wear a tartan outfit. Her midi-length, long-sleeved dress had a gathered waist design and a festive green, red, blue, and white checkered pattern.

Middleton accessorized with a matching green purse by Mulberry ($1,035) and a pair of forest suede shoes in addition to a pair of baroque pearl earrings from Shyla London ($88).

Prince William, 40, addressed the large audience assembled to welcome the Waleses to America after meeting with Boston’s mayor, Michelle Wu, and her family, before the pair left for a wonderful night watching the Celtics play the Miami Heat.

The queen showcased some new gold jewelry, wearing yet another set of “Biaritz Squiggle” gold hoop earrings by Shyla London ($90) and a substantial Laura Lombardi chain necklace ($158).

Middleton was wearing an Alexander McQueen trouser suit and turtleneck along with Princess Diana’s sapphire and diamond earrings when the royals landed at Logan International Airport earlier in the day.

The Waleses continue their day of fashion-related fun today by visiting a youth charity and a climate change lab. Their three-day trip will come to a close tomorrow night with the Earthshot Prize Awards.
