Kamlesh Mistry talks about Colonel Saunders’ 50th anniversary

The world’s largest KFC fan may be a married father of two who visited restaurants in more than 50 different nations and received a year’s supply of free chicken from the fast food chain.

When he was 12 years old, Watford resident Kamlesh Mistry, now 37, had a love affair with the fast food company.

Since that time, he has been to the farthest reaches of the globe to determine which KFC is the greatest.

Travel is a true love of mine, and it all began when I was a little child and my parents would often take us on trips to discover various cultures that contrasted with my British Indian culture.

‘As a result of that and my love of KFC, whenever we began travelling to other locations with my friends and family, I always wanted to locate a KFC so I could compare the local menu to that in the UK.

That’s how I got to consume it in more than 50 different nations, which enabled me to win in the KFC Super Fan of the Year competition.

It is a terrific icebreaker when meeting new people at work, therefore I am absolutely thrilled with the Super Fan label.

When asked which nation had the greatest KFC, Kamlesh said, “Kuala Lumpur had the most fascinating menu, for sure.” They offered several hot substitutes, and I love my meal spicy.

The KFC in Reykjavik was by far the craziest I’ve ever been to; I was simply so taken aback to see one there.

Mistry earned a year’s worth of chicken in the form of electronic coupons worth £400 fan as well as KFC robes, face masks, and t-shirts after winning the Super Fan competition.

When Kamlesh’s friends and family visited after he won the free dinner, they invariably ordered KFC, he said.

But his favourite reward was a one-of-a-kind personalised ceramic deal bucket with his face on it.

He met Jaina, his wife of nine years, on an online dating service, and she remarked of her husband’s devotion to KFC.

She remarked: “One of the first things we discovered in common was our love of eating and various cuisines from across the globe. Although KFC wasn’t the main emphasis here!

When I saw his 25th birthday cake, which was fashioned like the KFC deal bucket, I realised he was obsessed with it.

“I enjoy KFC, but not quite as much as he does,” I said. It doesn’t bother me as long as we don’t have it all the time.

“I suppose he enjoys it sometimes too much, but not more than my food, otherwise there would be problems!”

In addition, Kamlesh said that even when on vacation, he is always searching for a KFC.

He usually orders the Zinger Tower with a few hot wings on the side.

More than 24,000 KFC outlets may be found in more than 145 different countries. KFC was once known as Kentucky Fried Chicken.

The fast food chain is commemorating its 70th birthday today. It all started at a petrol station in North Corbin, Kentucky.
