Kaizer Chiefs assert that the banished star is still in their plans

Despite his absence, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane insists that Eric Mathoho remains in the club’s plans.

Zwane disclosed that Mathoho had suffered a long-term injury.

As a late substitute, Mathoho has played just one minute of competitive football.

His inactivity has sparked rumors that he may be let go in January.

Mathoho and Striker Khama Billiat are currently on the injured list, as confirmed by Zwane.

“Eric is still an integral part of the team,” the coach declared.

Zwane continued, “He has played a significant role in both the past and now.

“He is not the only unfortunate person. He has been one of the most injury-prone players this season. It also includes players such as Khama Billiat.”

Mathoho was due to return, but had another injury setback before he could.

Even last week, or two weeks ago if I’m not mistaken, we were preparing him for the game, but a toe injury prevented him from playing.

“Last week, we believed he was totally recovered, and when he began jogging again, we believed he was ready, but it caused him discomfort. He was required to rest, and he has not yet totally recovered.

“As I previously stated, it’s not just him. Cole [Alexander], Khama, and [Phathutshedzo] Nange have all experienced a similar circumstance.

“About five or six senior players have, which is concerning, but we cannot force the issue. We must wait till they are ready before throwing them in.

We know they can contribute, but it’s sad that injuries prevent them from participating.
