On Friday, Kaizer Chiefs will travel to the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban to face Golden Arrows, a tough opponent.
Zitha Kwinika, a defender for the Amakhosi, stated that they learned a great deal from the recent Fifa World Cup in Qatar.
The Chiefs have accumulated four points in their previous two contests. They were defeated to a 2-2 draw by TS Galaxy before defeating Orlando Pirates 1-0 in the Soweto derby, in which Kwinika had a storming performance. After 13 games, Amakhosi are in fourth place in the DStv Premiership standings. They have 21 points, which places them seven points behind log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have a game in hand; therefore, they have a lot of ground to make up and cannot afford to drop any more points.
“I had time to spend with my family and just relax, but now we must return. I believe that by switching off and watching the World Cup and other major leagues at home, you may learn a few things about how they play and the technical aspects of the game. After that, we were required to return and exert ourselves in order to maintain our fitness level and requirements. It was not just a full break, we were working,” stated Kwinika.
“After a few practice matches, we saw that we can improve. We have improved since playing the Lesotho national team and Swallows FC, but you are aware of the distinction between friendly matches and official matches. Arrows is a strong team, and we have been analyzing them based on the games we have played against them in the past. When playing against us, all teams put up a strong fight.
“Their advantages can also be their disadvantages, but we are working on a structure of what to do and what not to do — if the plan is executed flawlessly, I believe we can have a nice New Year’s Eve party. It is advantageous for us to be at the top of the standings at the midpoint of the season, because everyone evaluates us based on our development and standing. We must continue to win and be among the top clubs on the standings. We are not too far behind the teams above us, so I believe we are on the right route,” he elaborated.
