PHILADELPHIA — Aaron Rodgers suffered an oblique injury late in the third quarter of the Green Bay Packers’ defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night, and his return was in doubt.

Rodgers played for many weeks with a fractured right thumb and seemed in discomfort during a Packers field goal-scoring drive in the third quarter. Rodgers attempted only a few of short passes and groaned after each one.

Rodgers completed 11 of 16 passes for 140 yards, two touchdowns, and two picks. His squad trailed 34-23 when he departed.

Rodgers was replaced by Jordan Love, whom the Packers moved up to draft in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He completed 6 of 9 passes for 113 yards and a touchdown and connected with Christian Watson for a 63-yard touchdown that brought the Packers to within one score.

He sustained a thumb injury on the final play of the Packers’ 27-22 defeat against the New York Giants in London on October 9. Although the Packers have classified Rodgers with a thumb ailment since then, the four-time MVP did not confirm publicly that it was broken until this week.
