The award-winning musician John Legend was recently in South Africa, where he performed alongside the musician Mthandazo Gatya.
After he participated in his open verse challenge for his new blockbuster single “Nervous” on TikTok and the video went viral, the singer got the attention of Legend.
His #OpenVerseChallenge with an African twist went viral with thousands of likes and plays as people demonstrated their adoration for the video. It even attracted the attention of the American musician, who gave his thoughts in the comment area.
Last month, the two performers met and performed on stage together, an experience Gatya will never forget.
Gatya disclosed on 947’s Anele and the Club that his manager received a call to transport the performer to Sun City for a private event.
Gatya, who had no idea he would be performing with the global celebrity, was surprised by the encounter.
The exhilaration of the tornado in which Gatya was caught has subsided, but Legend has not forgotten about it.
Legend posted a “How it started and How it’s progressing” video to his Instagram account that detailed the path of Gatya’s craziest desire coming true.

Since his viral moment, Gatya has become quite busy with radio, television, print, and online media interviews.
