John Aniston, Hollywood actor best known for “Days of Our Lives,” has died at 89

The popular Hollywood actor John Aniston, who had a recurring character on “Days of Our Lives,” has passed away. He was 89.

He passed away quietly on Friday, Veteran’s Day, according to his daughter, star Jennifer Aniston, who shared the sad news on Instagram on Monday morning. The Associated Press stated that John Aniston had been a member of the US Navy.

The statement from Jennifer Aniston was accompanied by several images of the two of them going back to her early years.

The “Friends” and “Morning Show” actress wrote, “Sweet father… John Anthony Aniston.” “You were one of the most attractive people I have ever known. I am very happy that you ascended into the skies painlessly and in peace. and no less on 11/11!”

“Your timing was usually impeccable. I’ll love you forever and don’t forget to visit, she said, adding that “that number will eternally carry an even larger importance for me now.”

The Greek-born John Aniston first appeared as Victor Kiriakis on the serial opera “Days of Our Lives” in 1985. He was born Yannis Anastassakis. He was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 2017 for his work, and he went on to win the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.

Jennifer Aniston made a virtual appearance at the event to receive the honor on her father’s behalf and called it “really a memorable moment” for her.

She described the occasion as “a chance to not only honor a real legend in the daytime television industry, but it’s also a chance to commemorate the lifetime accomplishments of a wonderful and well-respected actor, who also happens to be my dad.”

John Aniston is survived by his daughter, son Alex Aniston, and Alex’s mother Sherry Rooney.
