Jill Biden, Phillies fan, attends World Series

During a Stand Up To Cancer tribute during Game Four of the World Series on Wednesday night in Philadelphia, First Lady Jill Biden paid homage to Beau Biden and the late minor league pitcher Corey Phelan.

During a brief moment of silence at Citizens Bank Park, the diehard Phillies fan made her presence felt at the game, as audience members held up memorial cards.

Dr. Biden’s reading list includes “Pop” – Jim’s Dad and “Beau + Corey.”

Pop was the father-in-law of her sister Kim.

She stated that she was wearing a World Series jacket with ‘BIDEN’ emblazoned on the back, a memento from Philadelphia’s most recent championship run.

Wednesday, the first lady went on a three-city tour of Pennsylvania, while her husband, President Joe Biden, warned of “dark forces that crave for power” and pleaded with Americans to vote for Democrats in the midterm elections, as opposed to the hundreds of Republican election doubters.

“As my husband stated, we are battling for the soul of America,” Dr. Biden told an audience at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, during a campaign event for Rep. Susan Wild.

“I was watching his address on television,” stated Dr. Biden. If you have time tonight, I anticipate that you will be watching the Phillies game. ‘Between commercials, view Joe’s address.’

President Biden connected last week’s assault on Paul Pelosi, husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, to the January 6 attack on the Capitol and former President Donald Trump’s ‘great lie.’

The first lady arrived at the stadium when the score was 0-0, but the Houston Astros scored five runs in the fifth inning to put her beloved Philadelphia Phillies in the losing position.

At her appearance at Muhlenberg College, Dr. Biden began her remarks by acknowledging the game.

She stated, “I just want to say go Phillies.” “… and the Eagles are unbeaten!”

She stated that Philadelphia fans were “proud.”

And some may say annoying, but they’re simply envious,’ she remarked.

Even in Pittsburgh, the home of the Pirates, where she made her first trip of the day, she gushed over the Phillies.

Actually, it’s a pleasure to be in my home state. I was raised in Pennsylvania. Even though it’s Pirates country,’ she added at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser held at the home of Cindy and David Shapira, formerly of the Giant Eagle supermarket chain.

“Are we not all Pennsylvanians at heart?” She spoke, eliciting cheers.

“There are principles that we all share, like as hating the Astros,” she added.

Yes, we may applaud that, she said as the about thirty audience members applauded more vigorously.

The first lady then traveled to the South Side of Pittsburgh for a rally organized by the American Federation of Teachers in support of Democratic House candidates Chris Deluzio and Summer Lee.

“Like many educators, I use to-do lists to stay organized,” Biden remarked. Therefore, the outcome of this election will depend on where voting falls on your to-do list.

This year, races throughout the ballot will be so close. And the only way we can win is by being present,’ she continued.

Put voting at the top of your list of priorities, the first lady advised.

Everyone has a teacher’s voice. This causes individuals to cease their actions and pay attention. Now is the moment to utilize it.’

Dr. Biden was presented by Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers, who described her as a “sea shift” from the last first lady in terms of “decency, competence, for science, for inclusivity, for our children.”

Lee’s election to represent Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District is solidly Democratic, whereas Deluzio’s race to represent Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District is considered a “toss-up,” with FiveThirtyEight giving Deluzio a tiny edge over Republican Jeremy Shaffer.

Wild’s fight for the 7th Congressional District of Pennsylvania is a classic nail-biter. She is competing against the Republican Lisa Scheller.

The 2020 election between Wild and Scheller resulted in a victory for Wild by around 14,000 votes.

With the addition of the red county Carbon, the district is now more favorable to Scheller following the redrawing of district lines following the 2020 census.

FiveThirtyEight deems the contest a “dead heat” and gives Scheller a small edge in the odds of winning.

Fox News Channel’s scorecard indicates that the contest leans Republican.

FiveThirtyEight estimates that Dean has a ‘very likely’ probability of regaining her seat.

Her fourth congressional district encompasses a suburban region north of Philadelphia.

Christian Nascimento, a Republican who ‘accepted with reservations’ the results of the 2020 election, is challenging her.

Biden’s final trip will be World Series Game Four between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Houston Astros.

Philadelphia leads the series 2-1 after winning Game Three at home, 7-0.

As part of the administration’s “Cancer Moonshot” campaign, the White House announced Monday that the first lady would make the trip.

The journey was delayed by one day since Game Three, which was initially planned for Monday evening, was moved to Tuesday due to rain.

As part of the MLB’s commitment with Stand Up To Cancer, it is a tradition to dedicate a portion of Game Four to those impacted by cancer.

During the baseball playoffs, the president and first lady have not been hesitant in showing their support for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Born in New Jersey, Dr. Biden was raised in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, a suburb north of Philadelphia.

The president was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, but grew up in Wilmington, Delaware, with Philadelphia being home to his closest major league sports teams.

The first lady returned to the White House wearing a Philadelphia Phillies jersey on October 23, the night the team won the National League championship by defeating the San Diego Padres.

This victory propelled them to the World Series to face Houston.

At a recent event, Dr. Biden discussed how her family spent more time discussing the Philadelphia Phillies than politics while she was growing up.

Friday, at a fundraiser for Democrats John Fetterman and Josh Shapiro, the president revealed to the Philadelphia crowd that he was wearing Philadelphia Phillies socks by raising up his pant leg and displaying his Phillies socks to the crowd.

Oh my God, I adore Philadelphia, remarked Biden. “I adore Philadelphia so much that I married a local lady.”

He then pulled up his pant leg to display his signature red socks with the cursive letter ‘P’

“The Phillies and the Eagles are off to a strong start this season,” he continued. The Philadelphia Phillies are playing tonight, so I’d best get this out of the way. And I love you all, but I would also like to watch the game,’ the president continued.

The first lady attended a Philadelphia Eagles game earlier this month as part of her cancer advocacy efforts.

A video that purported to show the crowd vehemently booing the first lady went viral on the internet, generating widespread media attention.

This video was later discovered to have been altered.

Due to an event in 1968 in which Eagles fans were so enraged by the team’s bad season that they jeered at Santa Claus, Philadelphia sports fans have a reputation for being unfriendly.
