Jeremy Clarkson claims Diddly Squat farm divides by home number and name

Jeremy Clarkson has attributed the disagreement over his Diddly Squat farm and store to the rural division between those who live in houses with names and those who live in houses with numbers.

The popular Amazon Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm features the 62-year-old broadcaster’s ownership and management of the farm in the Oxfordshire hamlet of Chadlington.

Before the second season of the program premieres next month, Clarkson said that some residents are still unimpressed with his journey into farming, while others are in favor of his bringing in commerce to the region.

The village is split in certain ways. It’s hard to estimate how many residents of the community support us and how many don’t,’ he added.

They didn’t find it attractive to drive fast around bends while yelling, so I’m sure some of it comes from my background.

Jeremy Clarkson says divide over Diddly Squat farm is between people with house number and name

The farm is divided fairly evenly between people who have a home number, such as 22 Oak Avenue or 3 Grove or whatever, who tend to support us since we bring commerce to the region and employment for their children.

Some of them are more than willing to go up the road for a great pint and a beautiful view. So, that’s good.

However, he explained, “If they have a house name, they tend not to like us because they seem to have just just moved here from London, and they don’t want throngs of people going to the farm store, so that appears to be the division.”

The tightest I can get it is “that.”

Despite purchasing the farm in 2008, Clarkson didn’t take over management of it until 2019.

The former Top Gear presenter encountered resistance from some locals after he expanded his farming operation to include a farm shop and restaurant. West Oxfordshire District Council later ordered the establishments to close after rejecting two of the presenter’s planning requests, which resulted in heavy traffic around the area.

Clarkson also disclosed the result of a meeting he had with the villagers, during which his celebrity profile and lack of agricultural experience were questioned.

“I can firmly state that I have not won over the early speakers,” she said. I lost them a long time ago,” he said.

The people who spoke first did so because they truly needed to get their thoughts out.

But according to Clarkson, there were “plenty” of other residents who seemed to be more accepting and even supportive of his efforts.

But I believe there were many individuals in the room who got along with me, he said.

I’ve lived in this hamlet for 50 years, one man said. Jobs are available for my kids (now). More money is in my home. I can go up there, have a good pint, and take in the scenery. In the fifty years that I’ve lived here, it’s the nicest thing that’s ever occurred to the neighborhood.

So, there you have that mindset. They are overjoyed. To be brutally honest, the fact that the farm store is more than a mile away from the village is really of little concern to those who really despise me, the farm shop, and my fame.

The Duchess of Sussex’s march through British cities and public humiliation were among Clarkson’s fantasies in his December column for The Sun, which received the most complaints from the Independent Press Standards Organization.

Despite the negative feedback the remarks caused Clarkson to get, an Amazon spokesman stated earlier this month that the third season of Clarkson’s Farm is “now in development to premiere at a later date.”

The danger of TB to his cattle is a topic covered in the new series, which according to Clarkson was one of the most challenging subjects to discuss.

We pondered our options since, in order to create a successful program, you must mention how adorable the tiny badgers are. But I reasoned that you would alienate your primary audience, the farmers, if you circulated saying, “Look at these cute little creatures,” since it is an agricultural program, Clarkson remarked.

I really called them b******* and demonstrated what they do in practice. It’s accurate.

These creatures are not cute. Do not fall for Brian May’s deceit. What badgers do is this. This is the kind of suffering they are inflicting on families who have spent decades building up a farm that badgers have destroyed.

In addition, Clarkson advised people to help farmers by purchasing “anything with a red tractor on it, because it shows it was grown and produced here to a decent level” before the start of the series.

You can go purchase Australian meat, which, I’m sure, will save you from starving to death, he continued. But if you do that, you’re not actually helping the British beef sector.

The avocados, that is.

They’re so bad for the environment that everyone should stop purchasing them. And instead of purchasing palm oil from Borneo, which is responsible for the slaughter of orangutans, consider purchasing vegetable oil manufactured from oil seed rape.

The second season of Clarkson’s Farm will premiere on Prime Video on February 10.
