Council replies to Jeremy Clarkson that Diddly Squat Farm must follow planning and ordinances

Despite its popularity, the Oxfordshire council has responded to Jeremy Clarkson by stating that his Diddly Squat Farm must adhere to planning and ordinances.

In episode five, Jeremy Clarkson can be seen attending a planning application meeting, in which his plans for a restaurant on the farm are refused
The West Oxfordshire District Council has responded to Clarkson’s blockbuster Amazon Prime series, which saw him sparring with government officials.

Clarkson is shown attending a planning application hearing in episode five, where his ideas for a restaurant on the farm are denied.

The council has responded to the situation by emphasizing that Clarkson’s planning applications, which included proposals for a parking lot, followed proper procedures.

We appreciate that the planning procedure depicted in Season 2 of Clarkson’s Farm can appear obstructive and that the planning decisions at Diddly Squat Farm will cause confusion.

West Oxfordshire District Council has hit back at Clarkson - saying his Diddly Squat Farm must abide by planning and bylaws, despite its popularity

As with any other planning authority, we have a legal obligation to ensure that everyone follows planning laws and policies correctly in order to manage growth and preserve local communities and the environment.

We treat Diddly Squat Farm exactly the same regardless of who they are.

Diddly Squat Farm near Chadlington is situated inside the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, meaning it is subject to more stringent planning regulations than other regions of the country.

The council added, “As depicted on the program, council officers met with the owners of Diddly Squat Farm to provide advice, which was one of multiple conversations we had with the farm’s owners in an effort to assist them.”The majority of West Oxfordshire District Council vote in favour to refuse Clarkson's restaurant plansThere were huge queues outside Clarkson's farm shop after it reopened at the weekend for the first time since its winter closure

In recent years, numerous planning applications for Diddly Squat Farm were authorized since they complied with national and local planning policy.

This included authorizing the farm shop with its existing parking lot, a lambing shed, and expanding the region from which farm shop produce may be sourced.

We approve of the farm shop’s ability to sell local goods from local farmers, which we fully support.

Clarkson and the council have clashed numerous times since he took over the farm officially in 2019.

When Clarkson intended to construct a farm shop and restaurant, many residents were unhappy with his decision.

Last year, the council denied two planning applications for the restaurant, against which he filed an appeal.

The council also denied requests to enlarge the parking lot from 10 to 70 places on the grounds that it would be “visually intrusive.”

In addition, the concept includes new entrance and departure points off Chipping Norton Road as well as a storage facility.

After the municipality rejected Jeremy’s proposal to convert his former sheep barn into a restaurant, he settled for renovating an abandoned barn.

This past weekend, after being closed for the winter, the farm shop reopened to long lines of delighted customers.

Photographs depict long lines of people waiting to enter the television star’s business on Diddly Squat Farm, as well as a large number of parked vehicles along the country road.

Officials from the local council urged Clarkson followers not to cause traffic congestion by parking near his farm prior to the anticipated rush of admirers at the venue.

Jeremy and his team were hampered in their efforts to prepare for the restaurant’s big launch on the weekend due to electrical problems in the venue.

As the restaurant was not prepared to seat them, visitors quickly piled up in their vehicles upon arrival. Consequently, Clarkson reportedly left in a rage.

Clarkson has announced there will be a third season of his agricultural show, despite rumors that Amazon will cancel it in response to criticism of his contentious Meghan Markle piece.

The 62-year-old garnered rave accolades on social media following the release of the new season on Friday morning.

Many admirers allegedly watched the entire series in a single weekend and are now eager for more.
