James Tedesco expresses desire to stay with Sydney Roosters

James Tedesco, the current captain of the Sydney Roosters, has expressed his desire to stay with the club beyond his contract, which expires in 2024.

While there has been speculation about the Roosters choosing between Tedesco and 19-year-old Joseph Suaalii for the fullback position, Tedesco remains unfazed and has said he wants to stay at Bondi and continue in his role.

Although he is open to extending his contract, Tedesco is currently focused on the present season and leading the team.

He has also stated that he is not putting a limit on how long he can play and is willing to continue playing as long as he is able.

Tedesco is widely regarded as one of the best players in the game, having earned the title since he joined the Roosters in 2018.

He has expressed that he takes good care of his body and mind, which could prolong his career further. Furthermore, Tedesco’s leadership role could potentially lead him to lead Australia at the 2025 World Cup.

Suaalii, who recently signed a one-year extension, has impressed on the field, particularly in his left centre role, where he showed off his skills against the Warriors.

However, Tedesco has praised Suaalii’s performance and dismissed suggestions that he intentionally ignored him during the game.

He also acknowledged the youngster’s potential and expressed his admiration for his willingness to improve and back himself on the field.

Finally, Tom Trbojevic, one of the game’s top fullbacks, has backed Tedesco to remain the premier No. 1 for some time yet, and beyond 2024 when his contract expires.
