Jalen Carter is issued arrest warrants for reckless driving

Georgia’s star defensive lineman Jalen Carter has been issued arrest warrants for reckless driving and racing in connection to a fatal car crash that killed his teammate, Devin Willock, and a team staffer, Chandler LeCroy. An investigation conducted by Athens-Clarke County Police revealed that Carter was driving a 2021 Jeep Trackhawk in a manner consistent with racing on the morning of January 15, when the accident occurred.

Carter is currently at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis and is one of the top prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft. The police investigation showed that both Carter and LeCroy, who was driving a 2021 Ford Expedition, were driving recklessly by switching between lanes, driving in the center turn lane, driving in opposite lanes of travel, overtaking other motorists, and driving at high rates of speed. The Athens-Clarke County Police Department stated that evidence indicated the Expedition was traveling at about 104 miles per hour shortly before the crash.

According to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution report, Carter told the police he was initially about a mile from the crash. He then later stated he was following the car that had crashed. The report also stated that Carter left the crash scene and returned 90 minutes later. Carter was scheduled to speak to reporters in Indianapolis on the morning of Wednesday, March 1st.

It is a tragic incident that has resulted in the loss of two lives. The police have found evidence of reckless driving and racing that led to the accident, which resulted in the issuing of arrest warrants against Carter. The situation is still developing, and further updates on the case will be provided as they become available.
