Italy’s tax police seize assets worth over £118m from architect linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin

According to a person acquainted with the situation, Italy’s tax authorities confiscated assets worth more than 141 million euros (£118 million) from an architect associated to Russian President Vladimir Putin for allegedly violating Italian tax regulations.

The tax police issued a statement earlier on Wednesday, claiming that they had confiscated the assets of a “well-known professional” in Brescia, northern Italy, for alleged tax evasion. When approached by Reuters, the company declined to name the individual.

The assets, according to the source, belonged architect Lanfranco Cirillo, who planned a spectacular residence on the Black Sea for Putin.

When contacted by Reuters, Cirillo’s lawyer did not react.
