Italy posts trade deficit of 3.6 bn euros in April

ROME, 18th June, 2022 (WAM) — Italy posted trade deficit of 3.666 billion euros in April, ISTAT said Friday. That compared to a surplus of 5.871 billion in the same month last year, the state’s agency ANSA said.

The energy deficit was 9.111 billion euros, compared to a deficit of 2.849 billion euros in April 2021. Exports were up 14.9 percent in April 2022, ISTAT said, while imports were up 42.4 percent.

Import prices rose by 2.7 percent between March and April and by 21.2 percent on an annual basis.
