Iron bar-wielding man destroys vehicles in Scarborough, Perth

A man dashing out onto a busy highway to viciously bash passing automobiles with an iron club has faced terrified drivers.

Later, police detained a 40-year-old man in connection with the incident that left six vehicles damaged at a major West Coast Highway crossing in Scarborough, a beachfront suburb of Perth.

Four charges of criminal property damage or destruction were brought against him.

A man is shown in a video that drivers recorded and posted online smashing a bar like a baseball bat at a stopped vehicle before going out into the main road and confronting the stopped cars.

He kept swinging violently, forcing drivers to swerve past him and run the red light to avoid the rampage.

Oh my gosh, a lady in a vehicle recording video of the commotion exclaims.

A man motorist responds, “Got his vehicle too.”

“He’s hitting everybody’s vehicle,” someone said.

The man can be seen breaking the rear door glass of a gray hatchback in another TikTok video.

The impact caused glass to pelt the car’s driver and occupants.

The man with the bar fled the area after the frightful antics.

A short while later, police found the man hiding at a neighboring hotel.

According to a police spokeswoman who talked to The West, “Police visited the area and, based on information offered by the public, they attended a hotel on adjacent Filburn Street, where the man was last seen.”

Officers located a room within the hotel, but the inhabitant was unresponsive. A man was arrested when the room was forcedly entered.

He will be held in jail until a hearing at Perth Magistrates Court on Monday after being denied bail.

Anyone who was the man’s target is being urged by police to come forward and file a complaint.
