IPO signs a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Korean Intellectual Property Office at the WIPO Assemblies in Geneva

Using the expansive scope that the MOU allows for, UKIPO and KIPO will continue to collaborate closely to advance their already strong partnership.

This officialization of cooperation demonstrates the two IP offices’ commitment to facilitating ongoing information and best practice sharing in significant areas of mutual interest.

These might encompass topics like intellectual property protection, research, and advancements in emerging technologies.

The MoU formally authorizes a variety of cooperative activities between the two offices. These consist of:

Activities to increase IP awareness

Include conferences and seminars, information sharing about changes to relevant laws, policies, and regulations, and the sharing of best practices, such as anti-counterfeiting activities and provisions to engage in many other best practice areas.

Tim Moss, CEO of the UK Intellectual Property Office, said:

I am happy that we can strengthen our already strong relationship with the Korean Intellectual Property Office through this MoU.

We must collaborate successfully with our international partners in areas of mutual interest, and the MOU signed today provides a useful framework for doing so.

We can meet the difficulties posed by the quick changes in technology, society, and the global economy by strengthening our already solid cooperation.

This is essential to the UK IPO’s plan for developing a top-notch IP environment.

Dr. Lee Insil, Commissioner of KIPO, said:

The agreement on comprehensive cooperation that the KIPO and the UK IPO signed today demonstrates our two offices’ continued commitment to cooperating more actively, even in areas that are more general and important to both offices.

I have no doubt that the things we will do and accomplish jointly under the MoU will significantly aid each office’s ongoing initiatives to create a more robust IP landscape at home and overseas.

The Offices will conduct the cooperative activities in complete accordance with their own legal systems, institutional guidelines, relevant legislation, and international agreements.
