Intoxicated motorist weaves between lanes at 90 mph on a wet road

Unbelievable video captures a drunk motorist swerving erratically between lanes and travelling up to 90 mph on a rain-soaked highway.

When West Yorkshire traffic cops followed the drunk driver down on the M1 in January, he was driving a 4×4 vehicle and was four times above the legal limit.

The motorist is seen on spectacular dashcam footage swerving from lane to lane in hazardous driving conditions by a police vehicle in pursuit.

The automobile accelerated to 90 mph, careened over three lanes, and then continued along the hard shoulder, just missing a catastrophic collision with other cars.

The arrested driver was discovered to have 145mcgs of alcohol in his body per 100ml, more than twice the legal limit of 35mcgs, after police brought the car to a safe halt.

There is “always an option” to drive while intoxicated, West Yorkshire Police chief inspector Claire Patterson said after the arrest.

It is simple to overindulge while drinking at a friend’s barbecue or relaxing in the sun in a beer garden, he added.

Plan ahead and consider how you’re going to get home, is our suggestion. There is always a substitute for driving while intoxicated.

If you are discovered drinking or doing drugs while driving, you might lose your licence and even your job, but the sad truth is that these behaviours do cause fatalities.

Our cops saw the disastrous results of the “I’ll be fine to drive” mindset.

“Please don’t allow us be knocking on your loved one’s door only to do drugs or have a few drinks,” we beg.

The negligent motorist received a three-year driving restriction as well as a 200-hour community service requirement.

Additionally, he had to abstain from drinking, pay £180 in court costs, and endure a quick electronic tag fitting.
